The team was tasked with creating two full sized copies of Alvar Aalto’s Stool 60, without the building resources available from the Artek furniture production company. The stool was designed in 1932 to serve as the quintessence of functionalist furniture.

In addition to researching and redrawing the plans for the stools, the team built jigs around which the legs would be bent. The construction of the stools consisted of various woodworking techniques including laminating, steam bending, cutting mortise and tenon joints, sanding, and finishing. This system of steps transformed nine birch boards into six spliced and bent legs and two joined stool tops.
